The fundamental role of DREAM’s Board of Directors is to provide strategic guidance and ensure that there are adequate resources to accomplish DREAM’s goals, and that these resources are used appropriately. Members partner with DREAM’s Executive Leadership Team to use their expertise to enhance the strategy of the organization.

In our increasingly polarized society, DREAM is uniquely positioned to address the complex issues and dynamics at the intersection of race, class, gender, and sexuality. As the governing body responsible for furthering the mission of the organization, it is imperative that the DREAM Board represents the diversity of perspectives and experiences in order to authentically represent the communities we serve.
DREAM’s Board is committed to bolstering the organization’s prioritization of and investment in diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe that we will be able to do this work more authentically and effectively when our Board is diverse, inclusive, and equity-focused.

We believe that the breadth of skills and the diversity of viewpoints that comes from different life experiences and cultural backgrounds strengthens Board deliberations and decision-making.
Equity-focused
The context in which we operate informs how we prioritize resources and strategies based on that reality. Our Board understands how systemic inequities have affected our society and those we serve, which is at the heart of our work and mission.
Inclusive
We aim to build a culture of respect within our Board. All Board Members are encouraged to bring their perspectives, identity, and life experience to their Board service.
